Shunterer Night Shift for Mälartåg

We are now looking for engaged and responsible shunters who want to contribute to ensuring our vehicles are in the right condition, at the right place, and at the right time. You will become an important part of the operations and work closely with both vehicle care and maintenance to create an efficient and clear flow in the depot.

About the role As a shunter, you are responsible for preparing vehicles for upcoming maintenance, ensuring vehicles are deployed correctly into traffic, and contributing to our passengers having a safe and pleasant journey. You are a central contact point between the Foreman/Production Manager and the cleaners, and you work actively to maintain high quality in vehicle care and operations.

The work is security-classified, which means you need to meet the requirements for security service within the railway sector. Working hours: Monday - Thursday 21:30-07:00. Friday - Monday 21:00-07:00. The position involves a rolling schedule where you work nights for seven days in a row, followed by seven days of leave (7/7 schedule).

Your responsibilities The work involves preparing and handling vehicles for maintenance and scheduling by organizing them according to current routines. The role includes regularly performing external washing according to planned intervals, as well as ensuring the operation of washing, graffiti removal, and de-icing processes in collaboration with FM staff. You are responsible for safely moving vehicles within the depot area and conducting self-inspections before each move. Furthermore, you report deviations regarding safety, working environment, environment, and quality, and document performed work according to established guidelines. You actively contribute to order and tidiness in the depot and can perform other tasks within the area of responsibility if needed.

About the recruitment process Our recruitment process begins with an initial phone interview followed by a physical interview, followed by a health check, reference checks, and a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585). For permanent employment, we apply a 6-month probation period.

NOTE On December 13, 2026, the operations will be included in a business transfer to Alstom. According to the Employment Protection Act (1982:80) Section 6b, employment and terms of employment automatically transfer to the new employer in the event of a business transfer.
